Cool Headphones – 4 Tips for Getting the Coolest Headphones in Town!

Headphones are no longer just a functional piece of kit that allow you to listen to your favourite music whilst on the move. No way! Cool headphones are now just as much a fashion statement as your clothes and hair. If you really want to make a statement you can find funky headphones on the market from companies such as Skullcandy, Ifrogz, Sennheiser and WeSC to name a few. These companies are bringing out the coolest headphones around in a range of colors and designs that will make your eyes water and your heart beat faster.
Are you searching for some cool looking headphones?
What you personally consider cool headphones to be will really be down to your own style. If you are looking for cool DJ headphones you’ll probably prefer Sennheiser, as these have been the choice for big name Djs for years. But beware, these can be some of the most expensive headphones on the market.
If you’re younger and have a funky fashion sense, you’ll be more likely to choose funky headphones from Skullcandy or Ifrogz. These come in a range of bright colors that can be instantly picked out from a mile away – definitely regarded as some of the coolest headphones around!
Here are my 4 tips to buying cool Headphones:
The Look - How could we start anywhere other than the look – afterall, we are Cool Headphones HQ! For a young and funky look Skullcandy and Ifrogz make headsets and ear buds that will draw attention. If your after cool looking headphones that are understated and maybe a bit more grown up, check out Sennheisers, Bose, Sony or even Bang and Olufsen. Beware though, that these can be some of the more expensive headphones out there.
Sound Quality – This really depends on your music taste or the types of audio you plan to listen to. For example, if you’re into dance music the quality of the base is very important. You will need cool headphones that send those crazy baselines into your ears without it sounding like a pathetic tapping of a pen on a tea cup. Another thing worth mentioning here is whether to go for noise cancelling headphones. Whilst these might be great for a longhaul flight, they would be less practical for a bike ride to work in the morning. Some of the coolest headphones don’t always provide the best sound quality either so check review sites before making a purchase.
Durability – One thing I’ve noticed is that some of the really funky headphones on the market have had some horrible user reviews about durability. I’m not sure how much of this is down to the users being younger and more inclined to break the products but that’s definitely something to look into. The most durable headsets and ear buds tend to be from established brands like Sony. I would also like to mention here that the white headphones made by Apple also tend to break quite quickly and easily. Something I personally have experienced (uurgh!!)
Price - There is a huge difference in price between the young funky headphones, the cool DJ headphones and the expensive headphones made by companies like Bang and Olufsen. Bang and Olufsen often charge over $300 for a pair of ear bud style cool headphones whilst Skullcandy start around $20. What you want to spend will depend on what you have available, but beware, cheap headphones will often be a bad investment as you will have to replace them when they break.
And that’s your 4 steps to making the right choice . . .
Whether you’re looking for cheap funky headphones or the coolest headphones with a hefty price tag, always check the real user reviews available on various websites. That way you can be sure you’re making the right choice.
